The rebirth of an old winery in the hills

I'm in the valley hollow, hugged by the hillsides of Cserhát, when I try to get to the home of a well-known winemaker's family. They have been living here for a long time, but the rotation of everyday life no longer fits comfortably within the walls of the classic, much-seen farmhouse.

It has been formulated in the Owners that the living space bounded by the traditionally built, shabby adobe walls can be fully adapted to their personal needs and today’s modern solutions – within a reasonable framework, in a practical way, without losing its authentic charm!

The general characteristic of such cottages is that they have thick masonry, a series of rooms opening from each other. It is very common to find a stove in a central part, which provides heating for the house and cannot be relocated. These homes are often verandas, with small windows gently greeted by sunlight, so they are usually more shaded than average.

Thus, many people do not even know what possibilities an old adobe house may hold for them, how they can make the old spaces a sunny, spacious home that fits today's needs, so that the house, even in its renewed form, is authentic and faithful to its past. However, it is worth spending some time planning, because we can turn it into such a cozy home.
