Stairway design and refurbishment!

This house, the interiors of which I designed, had (and became) such a pronounced element of the staircase that I feel that its presentation definitely requires a separate chapter!

The staircase is typically the part of the house that many people pay little attention to, because it's usually not cheap fun! However, this is a big mistake! The traffic between the living floors is complicated in this part, therefore, in addition to having to be constructed extremely safely, it must also be comfortable! A poorly designed walkway, as I know from experience, can become the most disturbing detail of a home, and this is so true that it is literally a factor reducing value, for example, at the time of sale! In more than one case, I was entrusted with the sale of a property where the interested parties simply could not reconcile with the stairs, because it was very steep, very narrow or even dangerous to accidents; by the way, even much later it did not sell at the right price… Not to mention that it is a very large element compared to the furnishings of the living space! The home has more furnishings than any piece of furniture and is therefore practically the most pronounced detail of most houses – so it doesn't matter what it looks like!

In my case, this was the starting point:

We had to correct a number of mistakes immediately:

– It soon became clear that the appearance, which at first glance did not have an aesthetic experience, was not everything, since the cabinets, which seemed practical, were unusable because of their depth and height, since most of their interiors were unavailable!

– However, it was only when the cabinet was dismantled that it actually concealed the biggest defect in the staircase, that is to say, the missing support! It was practically swaying under the weight of an average person – it just didn’t break!

– On top of that, it was incredibly uncomfortable! The reason for this was that no step was horizontal, and the distance between the steps was not the same, but varied between 18 and 26 cm!

-After this, of course, it was almost incidental that the varnish blistered on the tread surfaces, which split even the thicker socks!

There was no question of renovating the stairs.

– Appropriate supporting elements are fixed so that the structure does not break off

– I dismantled and re-polished the steps

– We have built in the bottom of the whole ramp so that everything does not fall under the stairs

– I had everything put on plasterboard so that I could build a normal chamber and then 3 square metres

– Illumination solved

– I've installed ruffles to make them clean and aesthetic

– New handrails and child-resistant railings have been made

– We have also equipped a separate children’s handrail to compensate for the steep slope

– The distances between the steps have been levelled

– All parts of the whole Mostrum have been water-synthesized

– We painted most of the visible parts white, giving the whole staircase a new look

– Finally, we fixed small carpets to make it safer to use and to compensate for the stubborn discomfort a little bit more

– In addition, I also created a small play area for the little child with a small door and window, its own lighting and an interior play kitchen.

The renovation was worth it! We got an ordinary chamber, illuminated, equipped with a power source and freezers with suitable space; A toy hut has been created, which also enhances the satisfaction of the parents, not only the joy of the children, as it absorbs everything when packing and the living room never swims in the toys! Of course, it is much more important that the driveway has become safe, even extra child-friendly and extremely comfortable! After that, it's just a foam on the cake that the transformed part made the whole living room more cozy and bright!

The aesthetic difference should be understood by everyone. 🙂
